DAAD Scholarships in Germany: DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service is one of the world’s largest funding organization for the international students and researchers. One of its activities is awarding grants and scholarships in order to support the  internationalization of German universities, promotes German studies and the German language abroad, supports countries in the Globally in building and improving their higher education systems and advises decision makers on education, foreign science and development policy.

DAAD funding offer ranges from undergraduates to doctoral programs, from internships to visiting lectureships, and from information gathering visits to assisting with the establishment of new universities abroad.

Currently ongoing is the DAAD scholarships for Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS).


Scholarships in Development-Related Postgraduate Courses

The scholarships is offered to foreign graduates from development and newly industrialized countries. It is open to student in all fields of study and with at least two years professional experience with a chance to take a postgraduate or master’s degree in any state-recognized German university.

Level of Study: Master and PhD Degree Program.

Course of Study: All course of study.

Scholarship Value

  • Depending on academic level, monthly payments of 934 euros for graduates or 1,200 euros for doctoral candidates.
  • Covers health, accident and personal liability insurance
  • Covers Travel allowance, unless these expenses are covered by the home country or another source of funding.
  • Depending on certain circumstance the scholarship holder can receive Monthly rent subsidy and Monthly allowance for accompanying members of family.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must posses a Bachelor degree in an appropriate subject.
  • Must fulfill the necessary academic requirements and can be expected to successfully complete a study program in Germany.
  • Must have at least two years’ professional experience.
  • Be able to prove their motivation is development-related and be expected to take on social responsibility and initiate and support processes of change in their personal and professional environment after their training/scholarship.
